Hi, I’m Jim Panos and I’d like to share a bit of my story with you:

June 2010.

I’m sitting in the living room of my home in Athens, Greece. It’s a typical sunny day; but not in our living room; not today. Today, in our living room the ambiance is intense. The crucial moment has just arrived. A decision needs to be made. A decision that will determine my future.
He’s looking straight to my eyes with a steady gaze. One gaze, a thousand words. Everything seems so clear to him..but not to me.
” Jim”, he says. ”The time to decide for your future has come.”
My breath is accelerating..my heart starts beating faster and faster..my palms are sweating. Never have I experienced in my life before this strange, overwhelming feeling. Like a knot in my chest.
”You have 3 options: Law, Engineering or Medical School. Choose one of them.” , he says and pauses for a few seconds.
”You can choose anything you like of course!”
Feeling trapped in my own home, which feels more like a cage now, I’m finding the courage to express myself:
– Dad…I don’t think I love either of these.. Think there must be other options too.
– If you want financial stability, you need to pick one of these. Pick one..now!
Being confused; being lost; somewhere at a place of fear and discomfort, respond with hesitation:
– Ok…I’m not good at maths, so suppose that Law would be nice. Always loved public speaking anyway! Plus, it sounds really cool defending people’s rights! Human rights!
That’s how I intentionally deceived myself, having nothing but the hope that ”things would be just fine”.

4 years later…
November 2014. I’m sitting in the living room of my home; not in Athens this time, but in Komotini, my city of studies, located at the North of Greece, close to Istanbul and the borders with Turkey.
I’m reading the code of civil procedure law for my exams in January.

”All parties need to comply with the regulations of articles 299 and 298 .”

Pause for a few seconds …………………………………………………….

”ENOUGH!!”, I screamed. ”ENOUGH!!”, repeated. I’m looking straight to the mirror. I’m looking straight to myself and state: ” Stop trying to keep on deceiving yourself. You can’t be doing this anymore. You can’t be doing this forever. You don’t love Law and stop trying so hard to love it. It was a MISTAKE! ADMIT IT AND MOVE FORWARD!”

That moment realized what I didn’t want to do in my life.
”But what do I truly want?”, wondered without having an answer…

December 2014.

I’m sitting in my bedroom in Komotini, my city of studies. Christmas’s coming but don’t care. Have decided to stay alone, to take some time and space for me. Why? It just felt right to me.

I’m surfing on Youtube and checking a few motivational videos. Always liked this kind of videos. Here it is, an inspirational speech to go. So absorbed was I by the words of this guy that can’t even recall his name!
But at the end of the video, will never forget these words of his: ”And I’m a coach”.

”A Coach?”, wondered. ” What do you mean by coach? I do know sports coach. Do know coach, the means of transportation…but life coach?? Can you actually serve people professionally go more in their lives??”, I’m thinking. For some reason which cannot still explain, these thoughts came into my mind right away:
”Wait a minute. You always read personal development books and you’re always passionate about helping your friends, your family, everyone succeeds their goals and be the best they can be!”

I’m starting searching like crazy! To learn more about personal growth! More about coaching! I’m not just hungry. I’m craving!!! Looking for minimum professional standards and for the best training programmes.

Just like that, I started making my research for days. And days became weeks. Weeks became months. Months years…

May 2018.

I’m standing in the coaching training room at the Etc Venues, in Farringdon, London. Ronnie and Nick, my coaching trainers and leaders tell me:” Dimitris. The world needs you. That’s why we would like to recommend you for the Leadership Programme of the Coaches Training Institute. To train others to become coaches”

Cannot hold my tears; tears of joy; tears of exuberance. Feeling moved and blessed; feeling that my value has just been acknowledged! Feeling that I can have an impact. A big positive impact on the world. Feeling that can actually change the world!

Ronnie and Nick were the catalysts in my life.
Infinitely inspired, armed with steel self-confidence, I’m taking the big leap.

June 2018.

Getting paid for my passion: fact.
