Take Action – Part of Chapter V of the upcoming book “Find Your Passion”
In the previous article, we talked about the importance of testing your passion in real life and creating a self-exploration plan so you can see if what you have in mind is actually what you’re really passionate about. Now, it’s time to take massive action! It’s time for implementation.
Implementation
“Genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration.”
– Thomas Edison, 1847-1931, inventor of phonograph and motion picture camera –
Take massive action. A strategy has no reason to exist without implementation! Start executing on your passion and self-exploration plan now! No overthinking! It’s all about self-exploration, not about “getting it right” or have the “very best” experience. Remember: If you don’t explore, you’ll never discover.
Observation
To test and discover your passion, implementation is necessary, but guess what? That’s right! It’s not enough! You might be trying out a new activity that you’ve never tried before for months without testing your passion properly. That is, without having authentic insights about whether this activity is something you’re really passionate about or if it’s just a misperception you had, even a byproduct of your limiting beliefs and unconscious biases!
That’s why you need to start observing yourself; to start observing your feelings and thoughts during your passion test. Observing means being curious, not reactive, or judgmental. You see, it’s very easy and tempting for any human to jump to conclusions. The problem? Most of the time, these conclusions are not true, authentic insights, but reflections of negative thoughts and limiting beliefs.
So, don’t rush. Give yourself the time and space you need to explore the passion you want to explore right now. Take as much time as you want – just remember again to put a deadline! This way, you’ll make sure to fully explore what you want to explore, without being influenced by your or others’ limiting beliefs and negative experiences.
More precisely:
- Test your passion by doing it every day for at least 3 weeks.
- Set the reminders that will keep you committed to testing and exploring every day.
- Keep a “Passion journal”. Write down every day your feelings and thoughts to start observing yourself following your passion. Ask yourself aloud every time before you write your “Passion journal” the following questions to facilitate your observation:
- What do I like/love about it?
- What makes me like or dislike it?
- How does it make me feel?
- What I don’t like?
- What else I’d like to discover about it?
- How could I discover it? What resources do I need to discover it? Who do I need to ask?
Never Give Up
If by any chance the passion you decided to focus on was not what you expected after your testing period, I want you to know that it’s ok. You are still exploring yourself! There are no magic formulas for you to discover your passion. Nevertheless, there are ways to accelerate your self-awareness in the shortest period possible. The “Find Your P.A.S.S.I.O.N method” is the best way to do that. In other words, you’ve already done a phenomenal job! Your self-awareness is on a much higher level right now! This means you have the insights to create a career with more success and fulfillment.
On the other hand, there are two main skills you need to develop for you to deepen your clarity and capitalize on your passion: a) persistence and b) adaptability. These are also skills that will make a tremendous impact on your life in general. So, how can you develop them? Of course, through practice. To do this, it’ll be quite helpful to create your vision board and establishing the emotional habit of visualization.
Create your vision board
Your vision board is a great tool to remind you not to give up! It’s a board where you post and collect any material relevant to your vision in all the areas of your life (career, free time, personal relationships, health, personal growth, etc). Find or create relevant pics and material about them (real or imaginary). Pick images that will represent what you have already discovered and made the specific amount of income out of your passion.
Write down on every pic a deadline for its completion. For example, you can find a pic of a contract on Google and you can edit it to look like your ideal contract, as the beginning of your new dream career. Then write below a deadline, e.g. “by 11/29/2021”. Then, post the pics on a board. This is your vision board! You can also use a photo album.
Your vision board will help you leverage the power of your RAS (Reticular Activating System). This is the part of your brain that tracks any info that is relevant and important for you to fulfill your desires, including achieving your goals. Visualization is a great tool to practice your emotional habit of visualization. Remember to imagine and feel how these moments in the future would make you feel. And feel all the feelings that accompany these moments, goals, and experience. So, use your vision board to visualize your desired outcomes along with the emotions accompanying them, for you to use your intrinsic resourcefulness, and brainstorm new ideas, solutions, and strategies that can best serve you to accelerate your career change!
Every day, at least twice a day, first thing in the morning and before you sleep at night, go through it. Because when you wake up and before you go to bed, you feel relaxed thanks to your “Alpha brain waves”, a specific brain waves frequency category, relevant to the “level of your relaxation”.
Does it actually work? Definitely for me and millions of people! It’s gonna work for you too!
Passion-work:
- Create your vision board within the next seven days. You can use an album, a board, or even PowerPoint to create a digital version of it. Visualize twice a day, once you wake up and before you retire at night, after resetting your limiting beliefs.
- NEVER GIVE UP!
